The Story of the Holy Sh’mokes Premium Blend

Holy Sh’mokes began with Larry’s dream of owning a cigar lounge—a dream put on hold after his life-changing liver transplant. Years later, Larry and Natalie took a leap of faith and brought that dream to life, creating a place centered on faith, fellowship, friendship, and great cigars.

As the Holy Sh’mokes community grew, they wanted a cigar that represented the lounge itself. The Holy Sh’mokes Premium Blend was born—a handcrafted blend featuring aged Nicaraguan tobaccos with a Dominican binder and distinctive wrappers, including Connecticut, Maduro, and Barber Pole.

The Premium Blend officially debuted on June 27, 2026, during Holy Sh’mokes’ 2nd Anniversary Celebration. It represented more than the launch of a cigar—it marked the next chapter of a dream that had grown into a community.

BORN FROM VOLCANIC FIRE

The story of Velvet Abyss begins not in a factory, but beneath the earth — in the mineral-rich volcanic soils of Nicaragua, where centuries of geological fury have created the most fertile tobacco-growing conditions on the planet. Founded by Alex Cadle, Velvet Abyss is a declaration: that true luxury is earned through obsession, not manufactured through marketing.

A.J. Fernandez was born in Cuba's countryside, in the San Luís area of Pinar del Río. His father, Ismael, and his uncle worked for the government's agricultural department specifically for tobacco. By the age of 13, Fernandez would go straight to a tobacco farm after school called Finca La China. In 2003, Fernandez left his homeland for Nicaragua, where he began rolling cigars for clients like Rocky Patel and Cigars International. Today, Fernandez owns one of Nicaragua’s biggest premium cigar operations, along with a host of popular brands like San Lotano Oval, New World and Enclave.

Born in Cuba in 1950, third generation master blender Jose ‘Pepin’ Garcia rolled his first cigar at the young age of 11, and it was then that his passion for tobacco and premium cigars was born. After becoming a world-renowned master roller in Cuba and earning many accolades, Garcia began his journey toward even bigger goals.

In 2003, Garcia came to Miami and opened a small cigar factory called El Rey de los Habanos with his son, Jaime, and daughter, Janny. His early blends received critical acclaim and rave reviews. This was the perfect foundation for the company to grow, and it grew quickly. Leveraging the expertise that Jose Pepin gained from launching the Tatuaje, San Cristobal, or La Aroma de Cuba brands, he had the expertise to bring this vision to life. Along with his eponymous Don Pepin Garcia brand, all the pieces were in place for Pepin to take the company to new heights.

In 2008, Jaime Garcia developed the original and top-rated My Father blend which was a tremendous accomplishment.  In 2009, the family moved their thriving operation to a state-of-the-art factory and farm in Estelí, Nicaragua, that would take on the name of Jaime’s incredible new top-shelf blend. The opening of My Father Cigars S.A. brought forth a new, prosperous chapter for My Father Cigars, and the Garcia family dream became a reality.
